The healthiest
food in your
kitchen

Mother Nature's healthiest whole food, and a staple of the Aztecs, chia is loaded with omega-3s, fiber, protein and antioxidants. But a whole seed mostly passes through you undigested, and the usual fix, standard milling, makes heat. E'LAN is cold-fractured: we open the shell without heat, so what's inside actually reaches you.

The E'LAN pouch standing in a pile of chia seeds, ringed by the eight foods it is compared with: broccoli, a glass of milk, a raw salmon fillet, red kidney beans, golden flax seed, spinach, bran flakes and a banana. The pouch shows a tree with a heart-shaped gap in its canopy and multicoloured leaves, over grass and soil, with E'LAN in green script and the Vital2Life mark below.
  • 3,000 mg omega-3s per serving
  • 5 g fiber per serving
  • Cold-fractured, never heated

Life, Love,
Integrity

Three words. Easy to say, harder to live up to.

The meaning
of E'LAN

We believe in the vibration and meaning of words and here are some of the synonyms of what E'LAN means and how this product actually makes you feel! Vigor, vitality and zest!

E'LAN is food, not a capsule, and it behaves like food — it thickens, it travels, it sits in a bottle without separating. Here's a normal day.

The E'LAN pouch standing on pale paper, surrounded by the foods it is measured against: a pile of golden flax seed, a heap of red kidney beans, a head of broccoli, a handful of spinach leaves, a banana, a raw fillet of wild salmon, a glass of milk and a pile of bran flakes.

Eight foods,
one seed

Broccoli and spinach, salmon and milk, flax, beans, bran and bananas — everyday foods people already reach for. Gram for gram, E'LAN carries more of what each one is eaten for. That is nine comparisons across eight, because milk is counted twice: see them all.

Ancient nutrition,
modern reasons

The ancient superfood of the Aztecs, rediscovered. Chia was a staple of the Incan, Mayan and Aztec cultures and of tribes across North America, carried by runners between cities for the distance it bought them. The Mayan word it takes its name from means strength — roughly what ours means too. Élan: vigor, vitality, zest.

They called it the miracle seed. None of that is why it works — it's why it lasted long enough for anyone to find out.

Benefits for Pets

The same seed,
for two legs or four

Pet diets, similar to the average North American human diet, are high in pro-inflammatory Omega-6 fatty acids and deficient in beneficial Omega3s. Omega3s are vital for maintaining optimal health and contribute to the management and prevention of many common disease conditions in pets.

Nothing to grind, nothing to keep cold, and no taste or odor — which matters more than it sounds like with an animal that gets a vote. If yours is on medication or being treated for something, ask your vet before you change what goes in the bowl, start at half the daily amount, and keep fresh water down.

Questions
worth asking

The five we'd ask if we were the ones spending $27.

Why is E'LAN $27 when other chia costs less?

Because a lot happens to our seed before it reaches the bag. It's grown between 23° north and 23° south of the equator, hand-selected by variety rather than bought by the lot, tested crop by crop, and opened without heat so what's inside stays the way nature made it. A 16 oz (454 g) bag gives you 35 servings — about $0.77 each. And if none of that matters to you? A cheaper bag of chia will still do the job. We'd rather tell you that than oversell you.

Do I need to grind it?

No — and that's the whole point of E'LAN. A chia seed keeps its goodness sealed behind a tough outer coat, so a lot of what you eat passes straight through you. Opening the coat is what fixes that, and standard milling does open it — it just makes heat doing it, and heat is what starts the clock on the oils you wanted in the first place. E'LAN arrives already opened for you — cold-fractured, never heated — so it's ready the moment you open the bag. See how cold fracture works.

How much do I use, and how?

A serving is 2 tbsp (13 g), and every bag holds 35 of them. Stir it into yogurt, oatmeal, a smoothie or a glass of water — whatever you're already having. Give it a few minutes and it thickens into a gel. That's the fiber doing its job, and it's also why it's a good idea to drink some water with it. No soaking, no cooking, no prep.

What's in E'LAN?

Just one thing: 100% natural whole raw chia. "Whole" means nothing added and nothing taken out — the seed is simply opened for you. No sugar, no oil, no fillers, no flavorings, nothing to help it pour. A 2 tbsp (13 g) serving has 0 g of sugar. The omega-3 in chia is ALA, the plant kind — a different form from the EPA and DHA you'd get from fish oil. E'LAN is Non-GMO, Gluten-free and Trans-fat free, right there on the front of the bag. Want the full nutrition panel, down to the amino acids? It's on the benefits page.

Where is it from, and is it really tested?

E'LAN is grown in the tropics — between 23° north and 23° south of the equator — and it's a Product of the Americas, packaged in the USA. We don't name our farms. We keep them, and the people who grow for us, to ourselves out of respect. What we're glad to share is the testing: every single crop is independently tested before any of it goes into a bag. More on how it's made.
